If you’re like me, sometimes you’ll forget your wallet when you leave for work in the morning, but you never forget your smart phone. Well, your smart phone is just a computer, so why not use it to improve productivity?
With smart phones you can have your contacts, your calendar and appointments, your email, internet access for research and information, and a host of other apps for work al in your pocket.
Consider this with your smart phone:
- Check your bank account balance
- Use your bank’s online bill pay to keep up with your payables
- Transfer funds between accounts
- Find the lowest priced fuel locations on your service or delivery routes
- Manage your drivers and vehicles
- Get directions (and avoid congestion) with Google maps or Mapquest apps
- Get alerts
- Track your routes mileage using your smart phone’s built-in GPS
- Receive discounts for vehicle service and parts
Drivers will soon be able to buy fuel with their phones and a bit further down the road, your smart phone will take the place of your wallet altogether, so you won’t have to worry about forgetting it anymore.
So what else? I’d like to hear what needs you have that could be solved with a mobile app to help you improve productivity for your business. What would be helpful to me is to have an app that tells the driver where the lowest cost fuel is in relation to where they are. If I'm traveling down I-95 in N Carolina, which exit should I take for the best fuel prices in the next 100 miles? Or, if I'm in LA on business, where is the best priced fuel near the rental car return? These are the ideas that would be most helpful to my business.
